The practical work of the Regional Council of Häme is directed by a managing board which is elected by the assembly. The managing board is comprised of eleven members and its term of office lasts two years. In the composition of the managing board, the following matters are taken into consideration: the distribution of the support given to various political parties in municipal elections (Local Government Act 81.4§), the relative population distribution of the sub-regions, and the Equality Act.
The responsibilities of the managing board include preparing and introducing initiatives concerning all important measures taken to realise the "Vision Häme 2030" as well as other matters requiring the consideration of the assembly. In addition, the managing board is responsible for the execution of decisions. In order to reach the goals set by the assembly, the managing board defines the focus areas and profit objectives of the activities of the Regional Council, and with its decision making it directs the activities of the council.
The managing board convenes approximately twelve times every year.
