Cutting Food Loss and Waste in Europe – The CIBUS Project
Europe faces a major challenge: reducing food loss and waste across every stage of the food supply chain. The CIBUS project is tackling this head-on by helping eight European regions develop smarter policies and practical solutions to prevent and reduce food waste.
Why It Matters
Food waste isn’t just an environmental issue. It’s economic and social too. Local and regional authorities play a key role in shaping policies that encourage prevention, provide financial incentives, and foster innovation. By working together, we can make food systems more sustainable and resilient.
About CIBUS
Duration: April 2024 – June 2028
Budget: €2,136,491
Funding: Interreg Europe 2021–2027
CIBUS brings together partners from eight EU countries to share knowledge, learn from regional stakeholders, and exchange best practices. Together, we’re updating policy instruments and implementing recommendations from the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste.
In Kanta-Häme, the focus is on updating and developing the Sustainable Growth Häme 2022–2025 regional programme.
